Jewish and Israeli humanitarian organizations are mobilizing after powerful back-to-back 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24. Casualty figured are continuing to rise, but authorities have already confirmed that the quakes have killed and injured hundreds of people and left thousands more homeless.

OLAM and SID-Israel have compiled a list of organizations collecting donations to support rescue operations, shelter, medical care, and essential supplies for victims. This list will be updated as more information becomes available.

Cadena International: Cadena is sending an emergency delegation to the area, and is working with local partners and key stakeholders to assess emerging needs and identify possible ways to support the affected communities.

IsraAID: IsraAID’s is deploying its global Emergency Response Team, who will work with emergency response specialists and humanitarian experts from its mission in neighboring Colombia to assess needs and support impacted communities.

JDC: JDC is partnering with the Venezuelan Jewish community to focus on needs in both the Jewish community, which has worked with JDC for decades, and the broader population, and is preparing to dispatch an emergency response team once the airport in Caracas reopens. JDC is already working with the Jewish community and local partners to address immediate needs like food, medicine, water, and shelter.

NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief: NATAN is dispatching a team of medical and mental health professionals to the region to support survivors.

SmartAid: SmartAID is deploying a search-and-rescue team to assist local rescue forces in Venezuela, while also working with partners on the ground to assess needs. An additional team is sending water purification units, telecommunications equipment, and clean energy units to more remote areas.
