Jewish and Israeli humanitarian organizations are mobilizing after powerful back-to-back 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24. Casualty figured are continuing to rise, but authorities have already confirmed that the quakes have killed and injured hundreds of people and left thousands more homeless.

‍OLAM and SID-Israel have compiled a list of organizations collecting donations to support rescue operations, shelter, medical care, and essential supplies for victims. This list will be updated as more information becomes available.

Cadena International: Cadena's emergency delegation is on the ground, working with local partners and key stakeholders to assess emerging needs and identify possible ways to support the affected communities.

HIAS: HIAS teams are coordinating with partners on the ground in order to assess needs, so that they can provide support to affected communities that they have worked alongside for decades.

IsraAID: IsraAID’s global Emergency Response Team is working with emergency response specialists and humanitarian experts from its mission in neighboring Colombia. Together, they are focusing on mental health and psychological frst aid, as well as water, sanitation and hygiene. In addition, they are conducting rapid needs assessment in affected communities.

JDC: JDC is partnering with the Venezuelan Jewish community to focus on needs in both the Jewish community, which has worked with JDC for decades, and the broader population, and is preparing to dispatch an emergency response team once the airport in Caracas reopens. JDC is already working with the Jewish community and local partners to address immediate needs like food, medicine, water, and shelter.

‍NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief: NATAN has dispatched a team of experienced doctors, nurses, and social workers to bring humanitarian healthcare to the community, address urgent needs, and support pathways toward recovery.

‍SmartAid: SmartAID has deployed several teams to Venezuela: a search-and-rescue team is assisting local rescue forces in Caracas, while another team is distributing emergency relief supplies to survivors. A third team will be bringing clean energy systems, water purification units, and communications equipment - and will work with local authorities and local partners to install them at hospitals, medical clinics, and first responder sites.

World Jewish Relief: WJR is working alongside its trusted partner, the Hebraica Jewish Community Centre in Caracas, to support people within and beyond the Jewish community by providing humanitarian aid, including shelter, bedding, food, fuel, flashlights, medicine and materials to repair damaged buildings.
