Andrea Hendler

Director of Jewish Communal Engagement and Learning

Over the last two decades, Andrea has helped shape multiple professional education and training programs for emerging and veteran Jewish communal professionals, Jewish educators, and rabbinical students.

Most recently, Andrea served as the Director of Leadership Innovation at Na’aleh: The Hub for Leadership Learning, working at the intersection of leadership development and organizational effectiveness. There, she helped communal leaders reflect on practice, navigate complexity, and build healthier institutions across the Baltimore Jewish community. Previously, she served as the Accelerator Program Lead at itrek, an organization that introduces tomorrow’s leaders in business, law, policy, and STEM to Israel, helping them experience Israel firsthand through peer-led, week-long treks. She spent nearly three years at The Jewish Education Project as the Director of Generation Now, a fellowship for veteran educators intended to transform the field of Jewish teen engagement and education into one driven by a new outcomes-oriented practice.

Andrea earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont. She earned a Master of Arts in Jewish Studies from Baltimore Hebrew University and a Master of Policy Sciences from the University of Maryland. She recently earned a Master of Education and Human Development (with a concentration in Israel Education) from George Washington University.

Since August 2017, she has been a licensed Israeli tour guide and has enjoyed showing tourists and students the complexity and richness of Israeli society.
