Laurie Franz, Board Chair
Laurie Franz is a philanthropic leader dedicated to advancing justice, opportunity, and dignity for underserved communities. As President and co-founder of the Five Together Foundation, she has helped guide the family-led organization since 2005, directing support to programs that uplift youth, strengthen families, expand access to affordable housing, and build thriving and engaged communities in the United States.
Laurie’s commitment to service is reflected in her deep involvement across the nonprofit sector. She is Chair of the Board of Directors at JEVS Human Services and previously served as Board Chair of the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda — a pioneering community created in response to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and inspired by post-Holocaust youth villages in Israel. She continues to support the Village as Development Chair. Laurie also contributes her leadership to Search for Common Ground as Co-Chair of the Advancement Committee, serves as Board Chair of OLAM, and is a member of the New England International Donors (NEID) Racial Equity Committee.
A graduate of the University of Delaware with a B.A. in English, Laurie lives in Philadelphia.
What OLAM program, story, or initiative inspires you most?
I’m particularly inspired by our Aspire program’s focus on ethical frameworks for volunteerism and international development, which ensures our partners’ work is not only effective but also responsible and reflective of Jewish values.
