Dan Gaylin

Dan is President and CEO of NORC at the University of Chicago, an objective, global research institute of 3,000 employees and $350 million in annual revenues. NORC’s work covers economics, education and learning, international development, health and well-being, and public affairs. Dan, whose technical background is in program evaluation and health policy, brings 35 years of experience spanning government, consulting, and non-profit management to the role. Dan was previously Director of Research at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he led high priority HHS initiatives, working closely with the HHS and White House executive teams. Previously Dan was a Vice President at the Lewin Group, and a Program Director at the Urban Institute. Dan speaks internationally on the use of data to inform decision-making, data literacy, and non-profit management. His talks emphasize the imperative to keep the needs of people, communities, and civil society at the center of data collection and analysis in a rapidly evolving digital world.

What OLAM program, story, or initiative inspires you most?
Having had the chance to mentor someone through OLAMentorship makes this program particularly meaningful to me. It is a great reminder of how powerful guidance and shared experience can be in helping others grow in their careers.
